Jhargram Raj College, established in 1949, is one of the oldest government colleges in Jhargram, in the Jhargram district. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and science & postgraduate courses in some arts & science subjects. Earlier, it was affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Now, it is affiliated with Vidyasagar University. In 2007 Jhargram Raj College was awarded a B++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Eligibility criteria for Jhargram Raj College Admission:
Basic Eligibility: Candidates passing Higher Secondary Examination conducted by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent board/council are eligible for admission in both Honours and General courses including vocational course within 3 (Three) consecutive academic sessions from the date of passing the qualifying examination, provided that the candidate must have passed in 5 (Five) recognized subjects including at least one language subject in the qualifying examination.
Honours degree course: Qualifying Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks in aggregate to be calculated by adding the marks obtained in best five subjects (including at least one language paper but excluding Environmental Studies) or 50% marks in the subject or a related subject.
General degree course: Pass marks in at least five subjects in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination.

Merit point= Marks obtained in Subject + 10% of (Total marks obtained in best 5 subjects).
