The gun and shell factory was started in 1802 which operates under the board of ordnance factories. It is the oldest survival factory in the Indian subcontinent located in Kosipur, Kolkata. In 1829, all the machines were transferred to Fatehgarh. The GSF manufactures brass guns with iron shots and shells. The Kosipur generating system started generating electricity for CESCs using non-pulverized fuels to generate electricity. Every year, a number of appointments are made for different posts in GSF Kosipur.
