Barasat Government College (BGC) is a state Government-owned college in Barasat, North 24 Parganas in the Indian state of West Bengal. The College was established in 1950 and is affiliated with the West Bengal State University and run by the Government of West Bengal. It was formerly affiliated with the University of Calcutta. It is a NAAC accredited with A grade & DST-FST sponsored college. The college has two shifts- Morning and Day. Eligibility Criteria:
A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination is eligible to seek admission to the first semester of the six-semester B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Hons. and Gen.) the course of studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100. Aggregate is calculated as the sum of the 4 best subjects in WBCHSE or equivalent examination from any other board (e.g. ISC, CBSE). Students of Science/Commerce (at H.S.(10+2)), who are willing to take Hons. in an Arts subject will be considered, provided they get 60% or above marks in aggregate at (10+2) level. Only those candidates, who passed H.S. or equivalent examination in the years 2019 and in 2018, can apply. Merit marks of the candidates qualifying for the examination in 2018 would be calculated after deducting 10% from the aggregate.
