About Bakshirhat Mahavidyalaya:
Bakshirhat Mahavidyalaya, established in 2005, is a general degree college in Bakshirhat, Tufanganj II Block. It is in the Cooch Behar district. It offers undergraduate courses in arts. It is affiliated with Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University. It was the long-cherished dream of the people of Bakshirhat Block, situated towards the north-east of West Bengal, in the Cooch Behar district near the Assam border. In the month of June of the year 1999, an Organizing Committee was set up for fulfilling this goal. Applications were sent to the Higher Education Department, West Bengal and the University of North Bengal for permission to set up a college.

Admission Procedure for UG Courses:
All students who have passed in five subjects at the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination before 2007 shall be admitted in terms of the pre-amended regulations of the NBU. Those candidates who would obtain either (i) 55% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 50% in the aggregate with 60% marks in the subject in the qualification examination shall be eligible to apply for admission to the Honours course in the subject concerned.
